Litcham Quarterly Queryists
Our Spring meeting will be held at Litcham chapel on Tuesday, March 28th at 7.30 pm. When our speaker will be Prof. Sam Leimster, Professor Emeritus of Medical Education at the UEA.
His topic will be, ‘Making sense of suffering, a Christian perspective.’
Sam Leinster, Professor Emeritus of Medical Education at the University of East Anglia, and also a Christian, will address this question at Litcham Methodist Church on Thursday 28th March at 7:30pm. Admission: Free
After initially serving in the RAF, Sam Leinster has had a long career in medicine, including working as a breast cancer surgeon. In 2001 he became the first Dean of the University of East Anglia’s new medical school. He will speak about the problem of suffering from his perspective as a Christian who believes in a loving God. All are welcome, whatever your beliefs, to what promises to be a very interesting talk, with the opportunity to ask questions.
Sam is recognised as one of the countries leading authorities in the country, and we are so lucky to have the opportunity to hear him speak.
There will also be a Q & A session, do come and join us for what should be an evening to remember.
Purchase a Pane Appeal
As you are probably aware, we are replacing the windows in Litcham chapel over the next few weeks.
We are working towards raising the finance required, and have already raised the bulk of the money.
We would like to offer you the chance to become involved, and are launching our ‘Purchase a pane’ appeal.
We are asking for a donation of £20 for each pane in the new windows. The donation might be a personal or family donation, or perhaps your family has a past association with the chapel which you like to commemorate.
The plan is to erect a plaque in the chapel listing all those making a donation in alphabetical order. Should you wish to make your donation anonymous. this will be quite acceptable.

METHODIST NOTES ~ APRIL
Easter is the main focus of our thoughts this month. The 7th April, the fifth Sunday in Lent, is Passion Sunday when we start to think about the suffering of Jesus. This is followed by Palm Sunday on the 14th April. In Litcham we commemorate this day by uniting together for a procession around the village. We meet at Litcham Hall at 2pm. The walk takes us to the chapel, church and village green. At each place we reflect on Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem. Refreshments are served in the chapel afterwards.
Walk of Witness
On Good Friday the19th April our Walk of Witness this year will see us carrying the cross from Litcham Chapel to Tittleshall Chapel. We meet at Litcham Chapel at 10am. For those unable to walk, there will be an opportunity to reflect upon the crucifixion of Jesus at Tittleshall Chapel from about 10:15am. When the walkers arrive we will conclude with a hymn and a prayer after which we share very welcome refreshments and a time of fellowship together.
The members and friends of Litcham Chapel are pleased to be uniting with our Tittleshall friends at their chapel for morning worship on Easter Sunday 21st April. Revd Andrew King will lead the service which will include Holy Communion. Please note the service will commence at 9:30am. It will be the last Easter Revd Andrew will spend with us before he moves to the Norfolk Broads Circuit in the summer. We extend a very warm welcome to all who wish to join us for this service or any of our Eastertide events.
On Saturday 6th April from 10am we are holding a rummage sale in Litcham Chapel. As well as the ‘rummage’ there will be a raffle, tombola and refreshments. This is our first fundraising event of the year and the proceeds will most certainly go towards the replacement windows that we are looking forward to being fitted the week after Easter. We would really welcome your support so please come along and spend a bit of money! It is also a good opportunity to meet old friends and new. If you remember, Stephen launched the ‘Purchase-a-Pane’ appeal in the March magazine. If you would like to support this appeal by donating £20 towards the replacement windows your contribution will be gratefully received. If you would like more details please contact Stephen Lynn on 01328 700978.
Creeping into next month, please save this date: Friday 17th May
We invite you to come along to Litcham Chapel on Friday the 17th May at 7:30pm for an evening of Country Gospel Music with Stephen Lynn’s one-man band. Last year Stephen did a concert which was very well received and very much enjoyed so ‘save the date!’
We finish with this quote from the Spring 2019 edition of Magnet magazine.
“Our Lord has written the promise of the resurrection,
not in books alone, but in every leaf in springtime.”
Every blessing for a ‘Happy Easter’
